During a recent session of Prime Minister’s Questions, Conservative MP Miriam Cates urged Rishi Sunak to contemplate the prohibition of social media and smartphones for individuals under the age of 16. Ms Cates expressed concerns about the increasing prevalence of mental health issues among teenagers and the alarming rise in children becoming addicted to pornography since 2010. In response, Rishi Sunak highlighted the Online Safety Act as a measure that safeguards children from exposure to harmful or unsuitable content online.
