London police have announced they will not be taking any further action against GB News presenter Dan Wootton, who had been accused of using fake online identities and offering money for explicit material. Wootton, a New Zealand-born broadcaster, stated he has been “completely cleared” and dismissed the allegations as “completely spurious”. He remains suspended from GB News due to a separate issue. Wootton, who previously worked for the News of the World and The Sun, and was a showbiz correspondent on ITV’s Lorraine, has won the British Press Awards’ showbiz reporter of the year three times. He left The Sun in January 2021 to become a regular columnist for MailOnline and later launched his own programme on GB News. His contracts with GB News and the Daily Mail were suspended following controversial comments made by actor Laurence Fox on his show. A separate, older allegation against him is still being investigated by Police Scotland.
