Xbox Game Studios to Release Former Exclusives on Rival Consoles

Microsoft’s Xbox Game Studios has announced that four games that were once exclusive to their platform will soon be available on rival consoles. Hi-Fi Rush and Sea of Thieves will be coming to Sony’s PS5 exclusively, while Pentiment and Grounded will be available on both PS5 and Nintendo Switch.

This move marks a significant shift for Microsoft, as they had previously kept their exclusives strictly on their own platforms. The announcement was made in February, but the specific titles were not revealed until recently. Head of Xbox Game Studios, Matt Booty, stated that these multiplayer titles will help bring more players together and grow their communities.

During a recent Nintendo Direct event, two of the games were unveiled, along with other upcoming titles for the Nintendo Switch. Evening Star, the developers behind the hit game Sonic Mania, surprised attendees with their latest game, Penny’s Big Breakaway, a 3D platformer with a nostalgic 1990s look.

The gaming community has shown excitement for these new releases, with many looking forward to playing Penny’s Big Breakaway and other upcoming titles. Sonic’s transition from a Sega exclusive to appearing on multiple consoles has been well-received by fans and critics alike.

In addition to the new game announcements, a trailer for the expansion to Elden Ring, the 2022 Game of the Year winner, was released. Shadow of the Erdtree is set for a June release on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation in the UK.

Overall, the gaming industry is buzzing with anticipation for these new releases and expansions, as developers continue to push boundaries and bring exciting new experiences to players across different platforms.
