Zelensky Reports 31,000 Troops Killed in Ukraine War

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has reported that 31,000 Ukrainian soldiers have died during Russia’s invasion, a figure significantly lower than other estimates. He refrained from revealing the number of wounded soldiers, arguing it could aid Russian military strategy. This announcement follows a statement from the defense minister that half of the Western aid promised to Ukraine has been delayed, leading to loss of lives and territory. Zelensky also revealed that 180,000 Russian soldiers have been killed and tens of thousands injured, though BBC Russian and Mediazona website have only confirmed 45,000 deaths. The Ukrainian president criticized Western allies for delays in military aid, which he believes has hindered Ukraine’s efforts to repel Russia. He also suggested that plans for a counter-offensive were leaked to Russia, contributing to the failure of the operation. Despite these setbacks, Italy and Canada have recently signed security deals with Ukraine, providing financial and defense aid.
