Nissan Accused of Abandoning Its Electric Car Pioneers

Nissan Leaf owners are upset after the company announced that its app would no longer work for older vehicles due to the UK’s 2G network being switched off. Around 3,000 Nissan Leaf and e-NV200 cars made before 2016 are affected by this change. While Nissan stated that key features like Climate Control Timer and Charging Timer can still be accessed directly from the car’s Navigation System, owners are disappointed by the lack of notice given about the app shutdown. Experts warn that similar issues may arise for other electric vehicle owners in the future as technology advances and companies stop issuing updates. Despite concerns about the impact on older vehicles, newer cars are expected to maintain functionality for a longer period due to advancements in technology.
