Brian Wilson’s Family Pursues Conservatorship

Share

Brian Wilson’s family has requested a Los Angeles court to place the Beach Boys star under conservatorship due to his suffering from a neurocognitive disorder similar to dementia. The decision was made after the death of Wilson’s wife, Melinda, in January, and after consultation with Wilson, his doctors, his seven children, and his housekeeper. The court documents describe Wilson as easily distracted and unable to care for his personal needs. The family plans for Wilson to continue living at home with his children, under the care of his housekeeper and her team. This would be the second time Wilson has been placed under conservatorship; the first was in the early 1990s when his family sought to separate him from a controversial psychologist who had significant control over his life and finances.
