The Body Shop is planning to close up to half of its 198 UK stores and reduce the size of its head office, resulting in significant job losses. The closures will start immediately, according to the firm overseeing the beauty retailer’s restructuring. The company employs around 2,200 people in the UK, including 750 staff at its head office. The restructuring is aimed at re-energising the brand. The Body Shop’s global franchises in the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Europe are not affected by the closures. The UK arm of The Body Shop was recently put into administration after being acquired by German private equity firm Aurelius.
