Nasa Uses Laser to Transmit Cat Video from Deep Space

Nasa has successfully transmitted an ultra high-definition video of a cat from space back to Earth using laser technology. The 15-second clip features Taters the cat chasing a laser beam and traveled a distance of 19 million miles, which is 80 times the distance from Earth to the Moon. Nasa conducted this test to improve communications with more remote parts of the solar system. Taters, owned by a Nasa employee, remained on Earth while the video was uploaded to a spacecraft launched by SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy rocket. The video was received by the Hale telescope at the Palomar observatory and then streamed to Nasa’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in real-time. Nasa hopes that this technology will enhance data transmission capabilities for future interplanetary missions.
