Cell phone users across the US experienced widespread service outages on Thursday morning, with tens of thousands of reports indicating no signal or service after 04:00 EST. AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile confirmed some interruptions, with AT&T stating that three-quarters of their network had been restored. Cricket Wireless also reported service interruptions and encouraged the use of Wi-Fi calling until service was fully restored. Small carriers like UScellular and Consumer Cellular were also affected, with users experiencing issues with calls, texts, and internet access. Major cities like Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, and Atlanta were among those facing the highest number of outages. Some users reported difficulties with 911 service, prompting officials to advise the use of a landline or cell phone with a different carrier in case of an emergency. The cause of the outage has not been explained by any of the carriers involved.
