Professional dancer Amy Dowden has announced that her latest health check showed “no evidence of disease”. The 33-year-old Welsh star of Strictly Come Dancing was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in May of last year. She shared the good news on social media, hinting at a potential return to the popular BBC show, stating, “Dance floor I’m coming for you.”

Amy, who hails from Caerphilly and joined Strictly in 2017, expressed her relief and joy on Instagram, referring to the update as her “biggest accomplishment yet”. She acknowledged that she won’t receive an all-clear for five years due to the nature of her hormone-fed cancer, but affirmed that the struggle was worth it.

Amy underwent a mastectomy in June 2023 and admitted that the intense treatment period had significantly impacted her both physically and mentally. She will continue to have monthly injections and regular check-ups for the next five years.

Despite the challenges, Amy expressed gratitude for her second chance at life and thanked her husband, family, friends, and fans for their unwavering support. She also vowed to continue raising awareness about breast cancer to help others battling the disease.

In response to Amy’s post, her father Richard expressed his joy and pride at his daughter’s courage throughout her health ordeal.
